So, on mashable.com there’s a story about a picture of a TTC working that was taking a nap behind the ticket booth that apparently caused a huge media storm. I for sure don’t think that this is acceptable because people could ride for free when others had to pay. People thought that the person who posted it (@OGLE_Toronto) was just trying to chause chaos for the TTC and I agree. I don’t think anybody who got to ride for free could possibly be annoyed with the service enough to cause that much trouble for them. Also, it looks like the TTC was flaming the twitter user for not checking his health, seeing if he had a heart attack or anything like that. Well, I don’t know anybody who has a heart attack while leaning back on a chair with their hands crossed. Most people but their hand on their heart because thats where it hurts. -_-

Here’s the link to the story: http://mashable.com/2010/01/23/napping-ttc-twitpic/

His Heart Just Wouldn’t “Beat It”

Michael Jackson, The king of pop, has lived a long successful and good life, but as we all know, all good things must come to an end. On June 25, 2009, his body was found dead in his summer home in Holmy Hills, California. Scattered around him were bottles of labelled pills, laying on the floor. An obvious theory was that he had overdosed on drugs.

Michael Jackson’s music inspired millions of people in Canada, and the rest of the world! Those people who idolized Michael for his talent and skill as a singer and dancer, will now be crushed by his death. Some might even think down to themselves for loving and listening to someone who died from an overdose. Well, maybe they didn’t know that is wasn’t illegal drugs that he was taking.

Since Michael Jackson was such a big star, his death caused an inter-state federal investigation. The Canadian Institute of Health was asked to help determine the cause of his death. After many medical tests on his body and bloodstream, they discovered that he had overdosed from drugs that had been prescribed by his physician, Conrad Murray! The main drug that killed him was a painkiller called “Propofol”. Conrad says he had not been prescribing it to him for quite a while now. Michael had been taking it without a prescription and Conrad was advising him to stop the entire time.

His death had sent an important message to everyone, everywhere in the world. A lot of teenagers have done, or still do, drugs. If they enjoy listening to Michael Jackson’s music, and heard that he died from an overdose, the people with a brain that still hasn’t been damaged too much, will do the right thing and quit. Now they know the danger, and the penalties.

Before Michael Jackson died, the movie “This is it” was supposed to be preformed live by Michael Jackson in July. Now it’s just a movie, filled with practise sessions and pre-performance rehearsals. People everywhere who thought that this was there chance to see him preform, and now crushed by his death, knowing they can never see him again. For Michael Jackson, this is it.

When I was 10 years old, I had to go to the hospital for what I thought was just a bad stomachache. One day, I got out of bed and almost felt down, I felt a sharp stabbing pain in my stomach. I ran downstairs and I tried to eat as much as possible. No matter how much I ate. I decided to go back to sleep. I felt sick and walked slowly, drooping myself up the stairs, and I only got worse from there.

I threw up a few times and my mom drove me to the hospital right away. They poked me with a few needles and decided I needed to stay. I was wheeled into a room and I always felt very very sick. For the next few days I was experiencing headache’s, stomachache’s every few minutes, and sometimes, diarrhea. All day I just stayed in my room. Then after a few days, one f the janitors gave me a PS2 so I wouldn’t get bored. Then the hospital staff thought I had appendicitis. But before they performed surgery, they needed proof.

The hospital staff booked me for an ultrasound. I was glad that finally, someone would know what was wrong with me. I had to keep a full bladder, and an empty stomach because apparently, it makes it easier to see. When the results of the ultrasound came back, it turned out I didn’t have appendicitis. For a while they didn’t have a clue what was wrong. Since I was younger I thought I was actually going to die.

Then, two days later, the doctor came back and she thought she knew my problem. There is a disease that can mimic all the symptoms of appendicitis but leaves the appendix completely normal. I remember that my older brother had appendicitis though, he had to get the surgery. The disease was called Gastronomic-Astalitis I think. After a while, I could go home, but every night, I had to drink some medicine that tasted like banana. After about a week, I could stop taking the medicine and I was perfectly healthy.

When I got back to school later, somebody from the hospital called. They had looked at the ultrasound results and noticed that one of the tubes connecting my kidney to my bladder, was narrower than the other one. I asked if I had have any of those symptoms I had in the hospital again and they said I wouldn’t. I ended never feeling anything related to that issue. However, I did have to have ultrasounds a few times a year. After 2 years, It was completely back to normal. Finally, I was happy knowing that there was nothing wrong with me after all those years.

The book I’m reading is Enders Game. So far this book is actually really good. The main character is Ender Wiggin. He is 6 years old and has just got his monitor removed. The monitor is so that the International Fleet can watch the new born babies to see if they need help or are in trouble. But secretly they are watching to see how they react when in trouble. Ender was very defensive and agressive. A combination of both his 2 older siblings, Peter and Violet. A man named Hyrum Graff comes andrecruits him for the I.F. he accepts and is transported to a battle school where he proves to be the only one fit to be a commander.

I’m not very surprised at my MI Survey because my top 3 were Intrapersonel, Interpersonal and Musical. I like to work by myself because there are no distractions so I can focus. I also like working with other people, because It’s always better to do less work. Something that WAS surprising was my number smart thing. I’m good at math so I thought it would be a bit higher. My Kinaesthetic was low which I’m not surprised about. I don’t really like sports that much so being low was predictable.

I am from spending hours on the computer, from watching TV while eating dinner. I’m from the stuffed pikachu I won in Wonderland.

I am from the basketball net, where I played with my brother, from the patio, where a cat killed a rat.

I am from the slope leading downhill, right across from my house, from my friends small and vicious dog, Toddie, and from my friends from kindergarten who still live on the same street.

I’m from my favorite foods, like beaf steak and lamb chops, from noodles and pasta, and from roast pork too.

I am from “Get off the computer” and “Go outside”, from “Go play piano” and from “Go biking with your friends” my mom always said.

I am from spending time with my cousins Yiyu and Meling, who now live in the States, from Wonderland in Toronto, where I rode the intense Behemoth, and from sharing my experiences with my friends who will always be here with me.
